GENEROSITY
Have you ever stopped to think how “generosity” could claim,
To take the spot of some people’s middle name?
Giving comes so naturally to them, they didn’t give an extra thought.
It might be something that they made or something that they bought.
Out of the blue a gift arrives. They have remembered an important date.
A birthday, an anniversary, or other special occasion of yours to celebrate.
But you didn’t remember one of theirs, it never entered your mind.
You never acknowledged them in any way, you never were that kind.
A card in the mail, flowers delivered, a most surprising event.
The smile on your face when receiving this gift, was payment for their sentiment.
Some people are generous with their time, some others in monetary ways.
All meant to ease the burden that shadows us some days.
It takes all kinds of people to make the world what it was meant to be-
People special in other ways, but they just don’t see,
That doing good deeds for others is such a rewarding thing,
And payment for these good deeds is the happiness they bring.
But isn’t that what God intended, when He showed His generosity to us?
His caring Word, His always being there, the comfort we need most.
Jesus’ words, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least my brethren,
Ye have done it unto Me” were powerful instructions for us, both now and then,
So when an occasion arises that a thoughtful deed or need
Requires my attention I hope that I succeed
In doing what God would have me do.
Be a cheerful giver or lend a hand to you.
For life has many occasions, in this troubled world we live in,
To show an act of caring in a way that makes our giving,
A small return to God for His blessings bestowed upon us,
And follow Jesus in His path, the pattern He has shown us.
