“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
A HEALTHY SOUL
God is concerned about my soul. And rightfully so.
Jesus is referring to “rest for my soul”. Bodily rest is not the issue.
I am a heavenly being in an earthly body. The two are at odds.
I was born into sin. No fault of my own. And the fault was not God’s.
So, how do I build a “healthy soul”? Not an easy task, but one worth the effort.
I must keep my eyes on the objective. Focus on good judgement and to evil, not resort.
Since the beginning of time man has fought a horrible battle between good and evil.
Some would win, some would lose. The fight goes on between God and the Devil.
Sin is a very powerful influence. It provides a background for unwise actions.
The world all around me is sinning. It provides lots of attractions.
God’s Words, in our world today, take on new meaning.
The Words of the Bible are twisted to fit personal whims. Words that support sinning.
I am accused of being “old fashioned”. That is no longer the world’s accepted way.
But God hasn’t changed. He is the same today as He was yesterday.
Do we really think that God would support some of our “newly accepted” ways?
They are so contrary to His teachings how did the world get led astray?
Jesus said, “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” What did His Words mean here?
Over the years I have given this much thought. The answer has finally been made clear.
“Don’t do as I do, do as I say” is an old cliché. This saying should be put on the shelf.
Acknowledge sinful acts with kindness. Do not engage in those acts myself.
Why do we care so much about what this world has to offer? Our lives are short, at best.
It is my soul that I am more concerned about. Will it meet God’s test?
Everything we see and touch is a gift from our Father above.
Everything He gives us He gives with His Love.
But what have we given Him in return? We treat Him as if He doesn’t exist.
Everything we receive is taken for granted. It isn’t enough, we insist.
If our world doesn’t turn back to the “LIGHT”. Turn back to Jesus, in time,
God will say, “Enough is enough.” Judgement day will come.
Evil sometimes seems to have the upper hand. But don’t be fooled.
Our God is ever-powerful and in control. His Will cannot be over-ruled.
He is giving His children time to turn their lives around. To follow Him. Change their ways.
But a time may come when God’s patience has run out. That will result in “the end days”.
But Jesus offers “rest for your soul”. Your burdens He will carry.
He came to Earth to barter for the saving of our souls. Our sins He would bury.
He died upon the cross so His mission could be fulfilled. The die is cast.
Turn to Him. Accept Him. Follow in His path. Your soul will find that blessed “rest”, at last.
